Twitter the microblogging site got my attention recently because I digged and mixxed more and more stories about how good it is for finding new friends and as a business tool. It was not my first time on posting tweets, no, but simply I did not get what on earth is good in twitter.
I’m not the kind of man to tell the world what time I go to poop. Don’t get me wrong, there are people really updating their twitter site with such nonsenses. From this you can see that the public usues twitter as social uniform to tell the world “what are they doing”. As I said I’m not that kind of a guy and I find irritating making “friends” digital. I think life is real and people trend replacing that real with virtually real AKA Virtual Reality (VR).
Not agreed. Social Media or Social Networking is a good tool for businesses to harness, even for organizations, and of course for social interactions as well. But first of all not as a replacement of the reality and getting into the “social trance”.
So I did not send an “I go to poop” tweet as a test but “I liked your post about…” That’s the way I learnt to do it and it worked and still works. I’m not saying that you can’t add any private non-business related post – I also added recently “I eat orange” for my wife’s sake – but if you are business oriented you should focus on that part of the twitter myth that makes sense.

I found my profile again on LinkedIn work well to be expanded for a broader Business Venture tool. After my Twitter trial I got some invitations so therefore I got caught on LinkedIn and on my for-months-not-updated profile to update…
So overall, I liked what I saw, I found some new tools they implemented on the site like WordPress blog badge, Poll, Twitter Buzz etc – great tools. I joined some groups as well for the expectatinon to extend my business realtions.
Next to this I was keen on finding this little LinkedIn badge that I saw on several sites but have not found among the LinkedIn tool library. Bad on them! They should harness a bit more the Open Source internet. So after a short search I googled on this: http://wp.gdragon.info/plugins/gd-linkedin-badge/ – and now you can will see on my site that tiny shiny icon on the right.

I got an email some days ago titled: “A Future for JPG Magazine” and was wondering what it contains. You know I wrote about the marketing tactic of JPG Mag saying they are closing. Such cheaters! And now of course the good team of photographers saved the entire magazine and we can all enjoy JPG mag. I really wonder how much minus JPG was was for 8020 Media… I think they would not bag for food. The marketing and surviving technique worked out, but I’m not sure it is the right way to do it. I have been watching people use various networks for years and for the average user their contributions and participations have multiple motivation factors. For the power user, the marketer, the brand, or the promoter it seems clear to me that their goal, even though they don’t actually know it or define it as such, is to get to the broadcast position.
Clay Shirky talks about the broadcast position in his book “Here Comes Everybody”. In his breakdown of the power law distribution and the impact it has on communication Shirky talks about how conversations shift. FULL ARTICLE +
