Very bad if you can’t delete your account

You finally decided not to use the service you signed up any longer because, because… there are lots of reasons. And you finally want to delete your account but you can’t. You get angry and hot while navigating through the menu – and those who who have long and strong nerve the FAQ section – finally you find nothing. So you log out.
Basic mistake! Such a service that can’t give a satisfaction for those who are unsatisfied are garbage. Service, ergo, it SERVES, should give you satisfaction even if you are unsatisfied. Giving a nice “delete my account” button is not a big sweat and it saves some nerves. That’s nice to see when I sign up for a service and I know that I can delete my account at any time. The very best is to read it on the landing page or on the registration page so the confidence to chose the service gets a big plus, for the user eye and heart.
Notwithstanding the accumulated result that the “delete my account” option saves you from the anger of unsatisfied customers and users. My assumption is that, by a “delete my account” button 50% less anger can be reached. In case you gave a reason for your user to be angry it still saves bits of nerves and bad reputation. Giving User Experience to your unsatisfied and escaping users is the climax of User Experience.
I’ve never been more unsatisfied with a service that did not let me unsatisfy myself by deleting my account. – not sure it’s grammatically correct phrase. Let me be unsatisfied if I want, please! Either by ignorance or not having a User Experience designer, some services still don’t allow you this basic option. If you can sign up, you should be able to sign down, unregister, delete account.
FLECK did this crime with me so now they have a bad recommendation backlink… I’m really not keen on giving back any wrongdoing to me, but what is much is much and this was MUCH. May Fleck google the keyword “fleck” or “fleck user experience” and after finding my post they’d implement the “delete my account” button. Then I would get a nice email thanking me what a good job I have done to them telling them how to upgrade their service.
Still, I would not reg back because I found nothing better in this bookmarking service than at any other. What I really did not like is that they don’t even have a frontpage showcasing publicly shared articles on the front page. Like this, Fleck works as a personal bookmark manager and not a social bookmark manager, yet, such I have with the good new Firefox 3+. Not publishing those bookmarks just as reddit or digg does, puts fleck.com back to web 1.0 – and that’s not kind news.
