How to Use LinkedIn: invite with interaction

Social Networking is a seriously growing media on the web that catches the attention of both civil and business users and makes a totally new approach to how we interact with friends and colleagues. Previously, I wrote about my recent rediscovery of 2 sites: twitter and linkedin. I found both useful and I would like to tell you how I started to interact for my business needs on LinkedIn.
First off, let me tell you my failure: I started to use focusing on BUSINESS only. I failed. I simply invited people whom I don’t know and I let the “invite” button go without a private message because it’s easy and why should I, and anyway what to tell someone whom I know not. Ok, look at this great picture:

Yep, that’s the truth. People don’t like it. – thanks and credits to Julia Roy - I would not like it so much as well. Because I’m newbee maybe I would still welcome some of those unknown new connections though from the perspective of an executive it would not be the case, I assume.
So write those personal introductions! If not sure what to write let me give you a genuine template written by New Media expert, Christopher S. Penn:
My name is Christopher Penn, and I’m the CTO of the Student Loan Network, as well as host & producer of the Financial Aid Podcast, a daily free Internet radio show (no iPod required). I’m reaching out to my contacts, local businesses, and professionals in my industries, as well as old contacts, and would love if we could bond our networks together.
I’ll promise not to flood you with garbage, though I’ve had the occasional request to introduce someone, mainly job hunters, which I usually pass along in good faith, since we’ve all been there at one point or another in our professional lives.
If it helps, here’s a quick page or two about me as an update:

Thanks in advance for letting me become one of your professional resources!
